Kids aged nine to 14 can become chefs for a day during a two-day Little Chef’s cooking event that is part of Alphamega Hypermarket’s programme Children, Nutrition and Health on June 28-29.
The cooking event, with a 25-person group on each day, will teach kids about the fun side of cooking healthy food with chef Nikola Constantinou. But Constantinou will not be the only one helping kids discover the magical world of experimenting with food, members of The Cyprus Dietetic and Nutrition Association will also be popping in to teach kids about the nutritional value of the ingredients they will be using to make their dishes.
The free event, which will take place at Intercollege in Nicosia, will invite children from Limassol and Paphos to participate in the first workshop on June 28. Free transportation from Limassol and Paphos to Intercollege will be provided.
On June 29, the workshop will be for children from Nicosia and Larnaca, who can also take advantage of free transport. In both cases the children will be accompanied by a supervisor.
The event on both days will begin at 10.15am with a welcome note by Alphamega Hypermarkets, which will be followed by a presentation by members of The Cyprus Dietetic and Nutrition Association. Then chef Constantinou will introduce a number of recipes before the kids get a hands-on chance to make their own dishes. After a lunch break the kids will continue with their cooking and once their dishes are complete, they will all take a photograph together and will be given gifts and a certificate of attendance.
