UN Special Adviser on Cyprus, Espen Barth Eide described as challenging the connection of the security and guarantees issue to the issues that are outstanding.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday evening at the end of the second day of talks in Crans Montana, he said “we are trying to connect that (the guarantees) to the other outstanding issues. That connection is challenging. So we discussed with everybody how to do that and I am happy with having had that discussion, better having it early than later”.
On Friday morning, he added, discussions will take place in a small format with the two leaders and then with the SG and “we will take it from there”.
