A slight temperature increase is expected over the next couple of days, the Met office said on Monday, but conditions will be nowhere near as intense as those experienced last week.
The temperature increase is expected to affect only inland areas. On Tuesday the temperature inland is expected to rise by 1 degree to 40C, and to 41C on Wednesday.
Due to low humidity levels, conditions are expected to be milder than last week, when the heatwave caused the death of three elderly people.
On Thursday and Friday, temperatures are to plunge to 36C and 37C which are normal seasonal levels, the Met office said.
As regards the coastal areas, temperatures are expected to be around 36C in the south and 33C in the west throughout the week.
