Experimenting with performance

For the seventh consecutive year the Yard.Residency.17 programme is currently taking place and this month the residency is giving new artists the chance to put on a theatrical experiment.

Organised by the Centre of Performing Arts MITOS, this threefold performance under the name The Binding, will take place on Friday in Limassol where director and dramaturgist Kritharas Georgios will explore the boundaries of performance.

Ninikas Aris will be the one on stage, taking the audience through the three parts of The Binding. Part one is about Angel’s perspective and explores the boundaries of the narrative. In part two the boundaries of faith and duty will be explored through Abraham’s perspective, and in the third and final part the boundaries of self, the suffering of loss and mourning will be tested while the woman’s story will be told.

The Yard.Residency.17 programme runs from January until December at the space of the Old Vinegar Factory in Limassol and offers artists a place to experiment with their art, share their ideas and meet other like-minded people. This year the programme’s events are more specifically structured and divided into three categories of Premiere, Residency and 24hr Shot.

The Binding will give Georgios a chance to work on his ideas while also giving audience members the chance to be part of the process.
