Police raid bingo hall, seize TVs and cash

Police in Larnaca raided an illegal bingo establishment but failed to arrest any of the 200 people present at the time, reports said on Friday.

According to police, officers seized 56 television sets and €16,000 in cash during the raid at Nea Salamina bingo late on Thursday evening.

The operation had been carried out by officers from various branches of the force, including the anti-riot squad.

Some 200 people present at the time managed to get away upon seeing the officers enter the establishment, the Cyprus News Agency reported. No other information was immediately available.

The case is being treated as a misdemeanor. The organizers of the bingo will face court at a later date, charged with conducting a lottery without permission.
