Woman injured trying to avoid car going the wrong way

A woman was slightly injured on Friday morning trying to avoid a car going the wrong way on the motorway to Larnaca airport.

Police said the accident happened at around 8.30am. A 74-year-old man travelling to the airport from Nicosia entered the wrong lane and almost crashed into an oncoming vehicle driven by the woman near Panorio reception hall.

She managed to avoid the collision by swerving but crashed into a concrete barrier on the left side of the road before coming to a halt on the median.

The woman did not appear to be seriously injured but she was taken to a private clinic for examination.

Police said the 74-year-old’s ability to drive will be reviewed by the licensing authority.
