At around 9.40pm a man reportedly entered a jewellery shop located in a Limassol hotel and after attacking and beating the 71-year-old owner stole five gold rings of as yet unknown value.

Upon leaving he pushed a cleaner who fell down.

Investigations pointed to the involvement of a 34-year-old and a 24-year-old man.

The 34-year-old man was found in the area and arrested on Monday at 1.15am while police officers are still looking for the other suspect.

The two women who were attacked were transferred to Limassol hospital where they received first aid and were released.
