Unemployment up in July

Τhe number of registered unemployed rose in July by 1,093, to 31,670, for a second consecutive month and fell by 226 to a seasonally adjusted 33,423, the statistical service said.

Compared to July last year, the number of persons without a job registered with authorities dropped by 4,442, or 12 per cent, Cystat said in a statement on its website on Thursday. This decline was mainly on a reduction of unemployed in the areas of construction by 1,103, public administration by 1,006, trade by 725, manufacturing by 488 and financial and insurance activities by 327, Cystat said.
