Company registrations up 1.2% in July

The number of company registrations rose an annual 1.2 per cent in July to 1,304 and 1.3 per cent to 7,750 in January to July, the Department of Registrar of Companies and Official Receiver said.

The number of applications for company names rose last month 5.1 per cent to 2,359 and 2.3 per cent in January to July to 16,027 compared to the respective period last year, the department said in a statement on its website.

The number of certified copies issued dropped in July an annual 1.2 per cent and rose 3.4 per cent in the first seven months of the year to 25,016 and 185,866 respectively, the department said. Finally, the submission of other documents dropped 7.5 per cent last month to 10,689 and rose 2.6 per cent to 76,679 respectively.

The number of company registrations is an indicator of the performance of the business service sector
