Egyptian man dies on fishing vessel off south coast

An Egyptian national died on Friday after sustaining critical injuries while on a fishing vessel off the coast of Vasilikos.

The man was airlifted to hospital by helicopter following a distress call sent at around 11.50am by the crew of Morris Dien, which was located some 15 nautical miles south of Vasilikos at the time.

A helicopter collected the man and flew him to Larnaca hospital at around 1.10pm where he was diagnosed dead on arrival.

The foreign ministry has been notified of the death.
