Tourist found dead in the sea in Ayia Napa

A female tourist was found dead in the sea in Ayia Napa on Monday afternoon, police said, ruling out foul play.

The 59-year-old woman from the Czech Republic was found unconscious by lifeguards in the sea off Ayia Thekla near Ayia Napa at around 2pm.

The lifeguards administered CPR but the woman didn’t regain consciousness.

She was confirmed dead upon arrival at Famagusta hospital.

The possibility of foul play was ruled out and no external injuries were detected.

A post mortem will be carried out at Larnaca hospital on Tuesday.
