Man remanded for gun and drug possession

A 37-year-old man was remanded for six days on Saturday after police, following a tip off from Europol, found guns, bullets and drugs in his Limassol home.

According to the police, the man, who is from the Netherlands country but lives in Cyprus, was arrested after officers found two loaded pistols, an arrow riffle, a number of bullets, items used for smoking cannabis and a plastic bag with an unknown substance believed to be a narcotic.

Police also seized a computer during a search of his office at the company he is working for.

The 37-year-old told police the guns were for his own protection.

Police said that the weapons will be taken for ballistic and other checks to see if they have been used in crimes.
