August may be a holiday month for most, however, several companies are already preparing their racing teams to take part in the 5-km corporate run to be held in the context of the Run As One race organised by Alphamega which takes place on Sunday, October 22 starting and finishing at the Alphamega supermarket in Engomi. In addition to the corporate run, a semi-marathon is also included in the programme, and there is also a 5-km and a 1-km individual run.
The introduction of the 5-km corporate run is one of the many innovations of this year’s event, which is part of the Alphamega corporate social responsibility programme entitled ‘Child, Nutrition and Health’. The aim of the programme is to promote the importance of a balanced nutrition and regular exercise in children and to create an individualised nutrition programme for 2,000 children aged 9 to12 years in collaboration with members of the Association of Dietitians and Nutritionists.
Companies and organisations can join the corporate run, including members and staff, customers and / or friends. For timing purposes, the performance of the top four athletes of each team which may include any number of runners will be added up. The entry fee is €150 per team for early birds, those registering their participation until September 30, after which date it increases to € 200. This includes a bib number, an electronic timing chip and a commemorative medal for twenty runners. If a team consists of more persons, there will be an extra charge of €5 per person.
