Drivers booked for drink driving

Police booked 270 drivers for drink driving during the week between August 7 and 13, it was announced on Tuesday.

The force said it conducted 2,878 breathalyser tests, catching 270 drivers who were over the limit.

Police said driving under the influence was one of the main causes of fatal road accidents. Some 25 per cent of road deaths in the EU was blamed on drink driving, the force said.
