Xylophagou water cuts due to minor faults, demand

Xylophagou community council leader Michalis Grivas on Thursday said recent water cuts in the area were due to minor faults, and possibly to extremely high demand.

According to resident Justin Cooper, the water was cut four times in August, the last time on Tuesday for the whole day.

“One of the times the water was off was during the Monday bank holiday this month when everyone was at home, with families and friends round for gatherings and numerous people in the village ran out of water as even they couldn’t believe that the water would be turned off on a bank holiday!” he said, adding that the cuts had not been announced beforehand.

The council leader, however, said concerned residents should contact the council to find out the reasons for the cuts, and added that the water will always be switched back on as soon as possible.
