Legendary icons Elvis Presley and Neil Diamond will light up the Paphos and Limassol stage when tribute entertainers Marios Kombou and Fisher Stevens will perform their double-tribute performances in the coming days.
The two entertainers will put on four shows, hosted by the Colosseum restaurant in Paphos and the Pissouri Amphitheatre, which will make any fan of the two singing legends proud.
Under the name Kings and Diamonds, Kombou and Stevens will take us through decades of songs for three hours each performance.
Elvis – who will be brought to us by Kombou – really needs no introduction. He played at Las Vegas Hilton Hotel 837 times between the years of 1969 and 1976, and it is these performances plus his movie career that have given him a place among the greats.
Kombou has been amazing with his act for a while and his hips still don’t lie. He has been putting on Elvis tribute performances for over 20 years and his dedication to honouring the King was noticed by Donna Presley, Elvis’ first cousin, who has commented and shown support for the act.
It all started for him while he was growing up. We all grow up listening to certain singers and certain kinds of music, but Kombou was inspired by what he heard to make entertaining and singing his career. He started out by performing other tribute acts in Greek restaurants until he saw someone else taking on the King and that was it, he was hooked. He started studying Elvis and found that the King also had a funny side, aside from his “supreme talent and enormous physical energy he displayed on stage,” Kombou has said.
Kombou is not just a dedicated fan or someone who just happened to fall into the business of entertaining, he trained as an actor and has starred in the London production of Jailhouse Rock in the leading role of Vince Everett. He has also appeared on TV and radio shows. Along with other members of the West End hit musical Jailhouse Rock, he has also toured the UK with the new musical The Elvis Years 1954-1977.
While Kombou will be asking us to love him tender, award winning vocalist Stevens will be telling about his love on the rocks when he belts out Neil Diamond classics.
Diamond is a recording artist, a songwriter, whose compositions produced hits for himself and for many others. With over 120 million albums sold worldwide, in terms of Billboard chart success, he is the third most successful adult contemporary artist ever.
Stevens is the winner of the Grampians Star in their Eyes 2001, and first choice by Easy Theatres for the leading role in the Barbara Streisand and Neil Diamond European Theatre Tour in 2014 and 2015. During the tour Stevens covered hits from the past five decades, including Solitary Man and Cherry Cherry.
Performing for over 18 years, Stevens has mastered an authentic tribute show with an extraordinary vocal range, a sense of humour and a stage presence that sparkles.
The two performers will make old fans reminisce about music that never gets old and get new fans hooked on songs that they may have never heard before.
