Man stopped driving at 216km/h on highway

A 72-year-old man was stopped on the Kalo Chorio-Larnaca airport stretch of the highway driving at 216km/h where the speed limit is 100.

At around 5pm on Sunday members of the traffic police stopped the man, from Nicosia.

He was given an alcotest but the reading was zero.

The pensioner was then arrested and taken to the Kiti police station where he was charged in writing to be taken to court at a later date.
