A police car was struck late on Thursday afternoon in Larnaca by a vehicle driven by a 28-year-old man, who was then found in possession of a small amount of cannabis.

According to a police report, two police drug-squad vehicles tried to cut off the man’s car by one overtaking it and the other staying behind it.

But the man then tried to get away by reversing the car, crashing into the second drug-squad vehicle.

In the ensuing search, the drug-squad men found a half-smoked cigarette and a small amount of cannabis.

The man, as well as another 28-year-old riding with him, were arrested and admitted to possession of the drugs.

The two men were charged and released pending the findings of analysis of the drugs by the State General Laboratory.

Larnaca CID continues to investigate.
