Cyprus push at world travel fair

Minister Giorgos Lakkotrypis

More than 50 of the island’s tourism players, including Minister Yiorkos Lakkotrypis, are taking part in the World Travel Market underway in London this week.

There, businessmen, hoteliers and tour operators have the opportunity until Wednesday to present their products and services and cement contacts for the summer season 2018.

Lakkotrypis will hold a number of meetings with British airline representatives and tour operators and will lead a business delegation from Cyprus which will take part in a networking event on Tuesday with British business people where the minister will present prospects for investment in Cyprus. Emphasis will be placed on the fields of hydrocarbons, commerce and tourism.

The delegation’s visit was organised by the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Cyprus Employers and Industrialists’ Federation as well as the Cyprus – British Business Association. Also present at the exhibition is Cyprus Tourism Organisation (CTO) chief Angelos Loizou.

According to the CTO between January and September 2017 Cyprus welcomed 3,001,603 visitors, an increase of 14.7 per cent compared with the same period last year.  Of these, 1,039,783 visitors came from the UK, an 8.9 per cent increase over the previous year.
