The 28th annual Radiomarathon campaign kicked off on Monday with collection points set up in all districts with the aim of collecting as much money as possible for children with special needs.
During the two-day campaign, co-organised by state broadcaster CyBC and the Cooperative Central Bank, thousands of volunteers will collect donations in all towns while charity-collection cars are travelling through communities, collecting money in schools and organisations. This year, a group of volunteers will march from Limassol to Nicosia collecting donations on the way.
During the past 28 years, Radiomarathon has collected more than €39m that was donated to children with special needs and with cancer, and to foundations and organisations dedicated to helping these children.
On Monday, House speaker Demetris Syllouris, the director of the office of the President, and political party leaders visited collection points to make their donations to Radiomarathon.
For donations through SMS, send RM 1 to donate €1, RM 3 to donate €3, or RM 5 for €5 to 7060. The service is available to subscribers of Cyta, MTN and Primetel.
