Man dies after digger overturns

A 53-year-old man was killed in a labour accident on Friday, police said in a statement.

The man, identified as Gavriel Gavriel from the village of Gerakies, was driving his mini-digger in a fenced-off area, when the ground caved in and the vehicle flipped.

Gavriel was crushed by the machine.

He was rushed to the Nicosia general hospital, where attending doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

The Pedoulas police station continues to investigate.
