Motorcyclist critical after road accident

A 23-year-old man is in critical condition at the Nicosia general hospital after the motorcycle he was riding was hit on Friday afternoon by a car near Pera Chorio industrial area in the Nicosia district.

According to police, the accident occurred at around 5.30pm when a car driven by a 53-year-old man on Limassol Avenue collided with the motorcycle, which was in the opposite lane, when he took a right turn to enter another street.

The 23-year-old was transferred to the Nicosia general hospital where he was admitted to the intensive care unit and put on ventilator. His condition is considered critical.

A breathalyser test given to the 53-year-old came out negative.
