Arrest after man knifed

Police arrested a 30-year-old man on Sunday evening in Larnaca who reportedly injured another man, 29, in the afternoon with a knife.

The injured man was taken to Larnaca hospital at 6.20pm and diagnosed with wounds to his chest, abdomen and left hand.

Doctors operated on his liver and stomach and he is in stable condition.

When the patient was questioned by police officers he reported that he was trying to resolve personal problems with the 30-year-old, whose home he visited on Sunday afternoon with five friends. At some point an ensuing argument, the suspect is believed to have stabbed the 29-year-old with a knife.

The attacker was arrested at 10pm and admitted stabbing the victim. He is expected to be taken to court later on Monday.
