Man loses both hands in work accident

A 37-year-old man on Thursday lost both his hands in a horrific work-related accident.

According to the police, around 10.30am the man was working in a field in the village of Frenaros, Famagusta district, when his hands got caught in the axle of a tractor.

He was rushed to Famagusta general hospital in Paralimni, where doctors treated him.

The man, a Bulgarian national, was then transferred to a private clinic in Limassol to be examined by a microsurgeon.

Labour Inspection officers and local police are investigating the precise circumstances under which the accident occurred.
