The stage portrays love in many forms

The Cyprus Theatre Organisation (Thoc) will take two of its plays out of Nicosia and give audiences in other cities the chance to Enjoy Petro’s War and Cock.

Petros’ War, is based on the novel by Alki Zei and is directed by Takis Tsamargias.

The events are set in Athens from 1940 to 1944. During these times of WWII, Petros has to grow up. He goes on adventures, feels different emotions and learns many facts that will alter his childish soul and lead him to love his country.

The play Cock is a completely different drama. Written by British playwright Mike Bartlett, it concentrates on a gay relationship that is in crisis. When John accidentally falls in love with a woman, his partner is firstly deeply shocked and hurt. After the shock subsides, he attempts to win his lover back by any means.

It may begin as a comedy about sexuality, but the play – directed by Costas Silvestros and starring Prokopis Agathokleous, Costas Kazakas, Sophia Maria Kikilintzia and Andreas Tselepos – makes a U-turn and ends up being a profound reflection on love and its rules.
