Woman, 27, remanded in connection with embezzlement case

A 27-year-old woman from Limassol was remanded on Tuesday for six days in connection with the reported theft of €78,000 from her employer.

The woman, who had been wanted by the police for several days, was arrested on Monday.

An arrest warrant was issued against her after she was reported by her former employer some two weeks ago that she had admitted stealing €78,000.

The theft was recently discovered during an audit for the period between January 1, 2016 and January 27, 2017.

The owner of the business, who sells computers and stationery, told police that the woman, who had resigned from the company before the theft was discovered, admitted that she was the one that took the missing money.
