Rape suspect in custody

A 22-year-old on trial in Paphos for allegedly raping his ex-girlfriend, aged 29, was ordered on Monday to be held in prison until the end of his court case after he tried influencing the main witness.

The man had been free on bail however during Monday’s session at the Paphos criminal court, the prosecution said the suspect had attempted to influence the main prosecution witness and committed other offences.

The case will resume on December 21 when the 22-year-old will plead guilty or innocent to the charges he faces.

He was arrested in connection with theft, rape, illegal entrance to a residence and causing actual body harm to his former girlfriend.
