Man dies in prison

The central prison in Nicosia

A 57-year-old Russian man died in prison on Saturday, most probably from a heart attack, the Nicosia Central Prisons announced.

The man was transferred to the Nicosia general hospital after collapsing in his cell and his death was confirmed by a doctor.

The 57-year-old, who was sent to the central prisons last month, was suffering from several health problems.

Authorities informed the Russian embassy of his death, as he had no relatives living in Cyprus.
