Driver stopped five times over the limit

A 49-year-old driver who was speeding and nearly five times over the legal alcohol limit was caught at 10am in the Famagusta area on Friday.

Police officers stopped him driving at 108 km/h on a road where the speed limit is 65 km/h.

Because he smelled strongly of alcohol they administered a breathalyser test which was positive. The test read 106μg, almost five times the legal limit of 22μg.

He was fined for speeding and will appear in court for driving under the influence of alcohol.
