Unite Cyprus with cheer

The Unite Cyprus Now organisation, pushing to pave the way for a united island, will get into the spirit of Christmas with a fayre tomorrow at the buffer zone at the Ledra street checkpoint in Nicosia.

The initiative will celebrate the season of coming together and love with an afternoon of Christmas fun with a Cypriot twist. There will be traditional Cypriot dancing (at 4.15pm), singing by the Cyprus Songs Association choir (at 4.45pm), there will be a DJ spinning some great sounds and tango dancing (at 5.15pm) and there will be lots of festive baked goods and drinks to be had in the street.

There will also be plenty of activities for kids, including face painting, crafts, as well as the chance to meet Santa and Mrs. Claus – who will arrive at 3.15pm – and we can all have our picture taken with the festive couple. Children and adults alike will also get the chance to share their wishes for the new year and have them displayed across the buffer zone.

Also, as it is the time for giving, all donations made at the event will be given to the two children’s oncological wards. If you have any toys, books and clothes that you do not need, Unite Cyprus Now will be collecting these goods for refugee children at Kofinou.
