Man arrested for waving knife at carnival parade

A drunk man who threatened people with a knife at the children’s carnival parade in Limassol was arrested later on Sunday.

According to witnesses, the 28-year-old man wielded a knife and threatened people watching the parade on the coastal road. At one point a person present at the scene managed to wrestle the weapon from him and later handed it to police officers.

When he was arrested police found that the man, who is staying in Cyprus illegally, was under the influence of alcohol.
