As spring is quickly approaching, the weather is often beautiful in Malta and the temperature comfortable for those who want to go sightseeing and exploring the unique prehistoric temples, the oldest stone buildings in the word, the medieval towns and the extraordinary architectural legacy of the Knights of St. John.

Like Cyprus, Malta has shaken off the British cultural legacy; thus the Cypriot travelers will find several common things with their daily life. For those who are thrilled with the underwater landscape, Malta is the ideal destination as many of the island’s biggest attractions are under the sea. No matter what your level of experience and ability are at, there will be a company that caters to you. If you would rather stay above the waves, consider an island-hopping tour – the sister islands of Comino and Gozo provide unique attractions of their own.

Back on dry land, there are several amazing ancient sites to explore. Valletta was built by the Knights of St. John and constructed on a barren, rocky peninsula with water all around. For history buffs, a wander around the battlements of the country’s islands will transport you back in time, while the Cathedrals of Assumption and St. John give a fascinating insight into the island’s past. In fact, Malta actually has one of the oldest religious sites on the planet in the form of the megalithic temple Hagar Qim, which dates back to 3,600-3,200 BC. Furthermore, the island is also home to the Hal Saflieni Hypogeum, the only known prehistoric underground temple in the world.

Once you’re done exploring Malta’s cultural sites, it’s time to unwind. There are plenty of beautiful beaches where you can bask in the sunshine. Ghajn Tuffieha and Golden Bay are particularly special in the north-west of the island, while rockier beaches tend to dominate the east, where many of the resorts are based. Golden Bay was once known as Military Bay and today is dominated by a hotel complex. Moreover, you may find attractive to cross Malta’s longest sandy beach, Mellieha Bay, with a 800m stretch of Blue Flag golden sand.

Flying to Malta is easy, as Emirates offers daily flights from Larnaca International Airport. The whole journey lasts less than three hours, while the one international airport is no more than 45 minutes by car or taxi from anywhere on the main island.

Malta is full of top restaurants, wine-bars, cafés and waterside bars. Enjoy your dinner to multi-award-winning haute cuisine restaurants with stiff white tablecloths and waiters in full bib and trucker or order a fresh-fruit cocktail at a waterside bar at St. Julian’s Baluta Bay. An abundance of historic sites, luxury hotels, exceptional restaurants and the surrounding waters, some of the cleanest in the Mediterranean, make flights to Malta perfect for those looking to be charmed.

A close destination to Cyprus, Malta offers a great option to those who want to spend a long weekend away from their business affairs.
