Man arrested after punching traffic police officer

A resident of Sotira attacked and injured a police officer after his car was stopped for a routine check on the Paralimni-Sotira road on Thursday evening.

According to police, when the 40-year-old man was stopped at around 10pm he started shouting and insulting the officer.

He then got out of his car and when the policeman said he was being arrested repeatedly punched the officer in the face.

The attacker was restrained and arrested while the policeman was transferred to Famagusta general hospital where he was diagnosed with facial injuries.
