Police arrest suspects right after robbery

Police said Thursday they arrested four suspected robbers around 20 minutes after they stole €15 and a few cigarette packets from a convenience store in Limassol early in the morning.

According to the police bulletin, three individuals who had their faces covered stormed a convenience store at around 4.30am on Thursday and started smashing up things on the counter using a bat.

The trio demanded the cash and cigarettes from the lone employee who gave up €15 and a number of packets.

The robbers fled the scene in a car whose model and colour were given to police by the employee.

Some 20 minutes later, a police patrol spotted and stopped the vehicle on a dirt road in the district. Police said there were four passengers in the car, aged 22, 20, and 19.

A search of the vehicle came up with three €5 bills, four unopened packets of cigarettes, two face masks, gloves, and various other items of clothing.

The four were arrested on the spot and later admitted the robbery, police said.
