Charity walk for northern dogs

Sled Dog Rescue, a non-governmental organisation that rescues abandoned husky, Alaskan malamute and Samoyed dogs from Cyprus and finds them homes abroad, is organising a walk and picnic in Troodos, on Saturday, March 10.

This will be a fun event for dogs and people who love dogs, involving hiking, socializing and finding like-minded people. The meeting point is the car park next to the Prodromos Dam at 11am.

“There will be a lot of laughter, a lot of cuddles, a lot of puppy love and we guarantee you will remember this event afterwards with a big smile on your face,” the organisers said in a press release.

Sled Dog Rescue has been organizing similar events in the Netherlands with great success!

The group has rehomed over a hundred dogs since being created and currently has 20 winter dogs, including seven puppies, in kennels and foster homes on the island. These dogs will participate in the walk.

Other animal rescues who have northern breeds, along with owners of similar breeds, are also invited to bring their own dogs to the event.

The group needs to register everyone who is coming to send details and keep track of participants.

The participation fee is 10 Euros and includes food and water. All information on payment and registration can be received by emailing
