New appointment for Cyprus casino

Craig Ballantyne

Melco Group announced on Wednesday it has appointed Craig Robertson Ballantyne as property president of City of Dreams Mediterranean and Casinos, the integrated casino resort set to open in Cyprus in 2021.

Ballantyne will act to ensure operations are conducted in compliance with Cyprus legislation and regulations. Furthermore, he will oversee the resort’s management and employees, across all spheres of operations, an announcement said.

With over 40 years of experience in the gaming and entertainment industry, Ballantyne is responsible for business development activities and the opening and operations of the temporary and four satellite casinos.

“I am honoured that Melco has entrusted me with this challenging project,” Ballantyne said. He added that he will be working closely with authorities in Cyprus to establish a world-class development for Cyprus and the wider region.

The €550 million project is expected to create approximately 4,000 jobs each year during the construction period and will contribute an estimated 6,500 direct and indirect full-time positions in Cyprus when the resort is fully operational.
