Omirou avenue to close for start of underground parking

A view of Omirou avenue as it stands

The Nicosia municipality on Friday announced that works to construct an underground parking on Omirou avenue would start on May 17 at 10am.

The parking will have space for 147 vehicles including eight for disabled persons, public lavatories at the level of the D’Avila moat, and stairs and elevators leading to the road.

The project also includes widening Omirou avenue and the construction of new pavements, lighting and signage.

During the execution of the works, the avenue will remain closed for vehicles from Solomou square to Eleftheria square. Traffic will be regulated and drivers are urged to follow traffic signs and police instructions.

The left lane, towards Solomou square, will remain open. Regarding the right lane, traffic will be directed to the right, towards the Leventis art gallery.

Traffic leading from Stassinou avenue to Evagorou avenue will not be affected.

The project is co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund under the Entrepreneurship and Sustainable Development Programme 2014-2020, the state budget and the municipality of Nicosia.
