Three men jailed for drugs, firearm possession

Three men received jail sentences ranging between two and seven years on Tuesday for drugs and firearms-related offences committed in Limassol last year.

The men, aged 38, 31, and 27, had been arrested in March 2017 in connection with possession and intent to distribute, 12 kilogrammes of cannabis, amphetamine pills weighing some 2 kilogrammes, and 33 grammes of cocaine.

The drugs were found in a shipping container at the Pano Polemidhia community football ground along with an automatic firearm, two magazines, 41 rounds, explosives, two detonators, and €4,543 in cash.

The court sentenced the 38-year-old to seven years in jail and the 27-year-old to five. The third defendant, 31, got two years.
