Ayia Triada in Karpas to hold special church service on Kataklysmos

The community council of Ayia Triada announced that a liturgy will be carried out on Kataklysmos (Whit Monday) at the village church in the north.

The liturgy will be held at the church of the same name at 8am on May 28, the community council said in an announcement.

After the liturgy, expected to last two hours, there will be a reception at the coffee shop next to the church.

The ceremony, the council, said will be an opportunity for people from the government-controlled areas to meet the few remaining Greek Cypriots in Ayia Triada “who are the key to our return”, the council said, urging fellow villagers but also everyone else wishing to attend, to join in.

It added that many people visit “the great archaeological and historic importance area of the Ayia Triada basilica, which dates to the first half of 5 AD and is considered to be one of the most remarkable early Christian churches of basilica style across Cyprus”.
