Guitarist Polis Charalambous often gives charity concerts in Paphos and he shows no signs of stopping. This Sunday his guitar will be set to join a piano and violin when the Charalambous Trio will perform in aid of the Cancer Patients Support Group in Paphos.
The Charalambous Trio features Stephanie Charalambous on piano, Alexis Charalambous on violin and Polis Charalambous on guitar. Stephanie is a graduate of Sofia State Academy Pancho Vladigerov and the New Bulgarian University. For the past ten years, she has been the main piano teacher at the Paphos Academy of Fine Arts. Alexis is a graduate of the New Bulgarian University. When he returned to Paphos after his studies, he took over the violin class of the Paphos Academy of fine arts and also began to give many concerts as soloist or part of the trio. Polis was the founder of the Paphos Academy of Fine Arts since 1984. He is a holder of many music degrees, such as a guitar diploma from Trinity College. He is also a Fellow of the University of West London in music. In his career he has given numerous concerts of classical to jazz music, ethnic and even pop and rock music.
For the concert on Sunday, the trio will perform pieces by JS Bach, LV Beethoven, L Mozart, and A Corelli. Famous pop songs by the Bee Gees, Brian Adams, Neil Diamond, The Eagles and more will also be played. The famous piece Pirates of the Caribbean will also be played by the string students of the Paphos Academy.
