Woman, 65, found dead in sea off Protaras

A 65-year-old woman from Paralimni, was found dead in the sea off Protaras on Tuesday morning.

“This morning, a 65-year-old woman went swimming with her husband in the Golden Coast area of Protaras. Around 7am a resident called the Famagusta police and said a woman was found floating in the sea,” local police spokesman Andreas Constantinou said.

He said bathers took the woman out of the water and she was taken to Famagusta general hospital by ambulance where she was pronounced dead.

According to Constantinou, a post mortem will be carried out on Wednesday to determine the exact cause of death.
