Highly acclaimed jazz duo Takoushis-Karapatakis will perform together with German percussion virtuoso Udo Demandt in Limassol tomorrow.
The Takoushis-Karapatakis Project is a contemporary jazz ensemble from Cyprus, formed in 2008 around the core duo of pianist/ composer Marios Takoushis and bassist/composer Gabriel Karapatakis. Their music exudes a modern and distinctive European jazz sound based on strong melodies and virtuosic improvisations. Based on and developed from the fundamentals of jazz improvisation and individual self-expression, it displays original ideas which are inspired by the music traditions of the Mediterranean. When listening to it, the audience can hear the memories that each artist carried from their childhood and the evolution of the jazz genre.
The Takoushis-Karapatakis Project’s discography has received critical and audience acclaim all over the world. Their first album, Sympnoia, was released in 2010, and their second album, Seven Miles East, was released two years later. Their third album, Colours Of Another Sky, was recorded at The Shoe Factory in Nicosia and came out in 2015.
