Police officers injured in hospital arrest

Police arrested a 22-year-old man at Nicosia general hospital on Thursday evening after he attacked two police officers in an attempt to resist arrest.

Members of the police force went to the first aid department of the hospital at 8.15pm after being informed that a man in the building had an arrest warrant for burglary and theft against him.

When they tried to detain him the suspect started shouting and hitting out at the officers, kicking a female police officer in the stomach.

He was eventually arrested and the two officers were examined by a doctor. They were slightly injured and the female officer was granted a two-day sick leave.
