Famagusta police said Thursday they were investigating a dog attack that left a woman hospitalized with injuries to various parts of her body.

Doctors said the 53-year-old’s condition was not life-threatening. She was being treated for wounds to her right arm, right thigh, and sternum.

Police said the woman was attacked by a dog belonging to a 61-year-old man on Wednesday morning in a village in the Famagusta district.

The dog was tied when the incident happened but the owner did not have a permit nor was the animal registered, police said.
