Hundreds of people flocked to the centre of Nicosia late Sunday afternoon for the annual Pride march in support of the rights of LGBT people.
The events started at 3.30 in the municipal park with events for children before a march took place from 5.30, ending at 7 before a party with live music and DJs.
Under the slogan Make the Change, the day marked the end of two weeks of events.

Learn from the UK
Next is ‘transgender ‘ rights
Then persons ‘identifying ‘ themselves as of the opposite sex
Latest, revealed in weekend press, is convicted rapists, self identifying as women, being allowed into women’s prisons
The real women are terrified

June 4, 2018 at 05:31Kurtz is the only one who gets it. Correct bro, there’s an agenda. Think about it: if there is no problem in Cyprus with LGBT, why have a march, why have any event? And don’t gimme that ‘raising awareness’ line which means nothing. Conversely, if there IS a problem, what good is a march?
This is classic social engineering. There are 2 parts to it. First, they need to create the impression that there is an ‘issue’, i.e. controversy. Get people divided into camps. Is there really an issue here? What, are LGBT people being burned at the stake? And what percentage of the population do they account for?
Second, it’s social programming. You’re supposed, you’re being told, to think in a certain way, otherwise you’re a reactionary. I reject that. I got no problem with LGBT, I could give a flying f… what people do in their personal lives. But I have a huge problem with someone telling me what is the ‘right’ way to think. I can think for myself thank you very much.
The whole pride march in Cyprus just feels artificial. Last year all the great and the good – MPs etc – were in attendance. Do you really think these people give a damn about LGBT people? Disy MP Stella Kyriakidou in particular, which I regard as a change agent. She’s all over these so-called ‘PC’ issues. I don’t trust her for a second.
It’d be interesting to find out who is really behind these events, who is funding them. Although I already can take a pretty good guess.

June 4, 2018 at 23:23Correct. It’s pretty much the old “divide and conquer” tactics. Hillary Clinton’s and Obama’s communist mentor Saul Alinsky wrote a detailed manual called “Rules for Radicals: A Pragmatic Primer for Realistic Radicals” which clarifies all this apparent nonsense that they do.

June 4, 2018 at 00:02People fixated on sex are pretty pathetic and dull. Get over it, nobody cares what you do with whatever gendered consented adults in your bedroom.
EGB
June 4, 2018 at 00:04That would be you. Self fixated. I don’t even what to imagine what an event like this ‘makes’ you imagine.
Wanderer
June 4, 2018 at 00:11I do not need to imagine anything. “An event like this” demonstrates clearly that its participants are so much consumed by their animalistic instincts that there is not much space for any higher cognitive activities which distinguish homo sapiens from more primitive animals.
EGB
June 4, 2018 at 00:23You do not need to but you clearly do. Every person alive today is a homo sapien, each is as animal as the next. There are people who identify as homosexual who have never had sex and never intend to, how does that work in your theory?
Wanderer
June 4, 2018 at 00:32“never had sex and never intend to” — do these people find a need to publicly “demonstrate pride” too? Most of them, I guess not, as they probably have better things to do.
EGB
June 4, 2018 at 00:40Far from it, people who grew up in less supportive times find these events quite liberating although it may be too late for them to live a normal life as who they are.
You equate homosexuality with sex, sex, sex. Is heterosexuality about sex, sex, sex?
We haven’t got on to transgender and transsexuality yet. Is that also sex, sex, sex?
Wanderer
June 4, 2018 at 00:59“it may be too late for them to live a normal life as who they are.” —- You are basically saying they are mentally ill. How tolerant and condescending of you.
“You equate homosexuality with sex, sex, sex. Is heterosexuality about sex, sex, sex?” —- Have you seen many “straight pride” events?
EGB
June 4, 2018 at 01:10You’re talking rubbish, complete rubbish followed by more rubbish. Where you got the idea I called anyone mentally ill is a mystery.
I know you’re a dinosaur of one kind or other but BIG NEWS – it’s not called Gay Pride, it’s Pride. Heterosexuals welcome.

June 4, 2018 at 01:17Perhaps you should take your own advice and ignore it. What difference does it make to your life?
Wanderer
June 4, 2018 at 01:25I do. The news media pretending that something as trivial as some people’s sexual proclivities and furthermore their odd desire to make an “event” out of it — that it deserves headlines — is not helping though.
EGB
June 4, 2018 at 01:26There’s nothing sexual about the event. Why can’t you just get that?
Wanderer
June 4, 2018 at 01:31Of course there isn’t. It’s the “current year” and there is no reality and facts.

June 4, 2018 at 01:36Say something sensible. Explain what your problem with same sex love is. For some people it works – what is your problem with that? Did anyone say you have to do it?

June 4, 2018 at 07:35I do not care what one’s sexual preferences are as long as they do not infringe on my life and my pocket. However lately this is not the case worldwide. It seems a vocal minority wants to dictate to the majority what to follow and what to accept .
cyprus observer
June 4, 2018 at 21:48No, you are wrong. The minority just want the same rights as the majority. It is coming slowly…but it does not come without a fight.

June 4, 2018 at 21:47Clearly in recent times, just 125 miles east of Cyprus, some people did care about what people did in the bedroom. We all saw the horrendous videos of people being thrown off buildings in Syria. There are 10 countries in the world where you can be killed if you are gay. The LGBT movement will continue until these atrocities cease. Your comments show a lack of thought, a lack of internationalism and nothing but apathy.
Wanderer
June 4, 2018 at 23:15How does this “movement” actually help people in those countries? Whenever that “movement” even cared about what’s going on in those countries? It is the “oppressive West” they always protest against, while the “religion of peace” is their “friend.”
And you can get killed by those savages for any number of reasons, not just sexuality. Being an “infidel” is enough. I doubt that infidel pride marches in Western countries could alleviate that in any way.
