Syrian injured in head in fight at Kofinou

The Kofinou reception centre

A 30-year-old Syrian man suffered injuries to the head when he got into an argument with an Iranian at the Kofinou reception centre for asylum seekers, when the latter hit him with a narghile.

The incident happened 30 minutes after midnight when the two men started arguing.

According to Kofinou police officers the Iranian, 41, was in his room when the Syrian went there to sort out differences between the two of them.

The argument that broke out between them turned physical with the Syrian being injured on the lips, when the Iranian struck him with the narghile.

The Syrian was taken by ambulance to Larnaca general hospital where doctors stitched up his wound and released him.

The Iranian refused to go to hospital to be checked out.
