The Limassol-Nicosia motorway was re-opened after being closed for two hours on Saturday morning, following a car accident injuring eight people, police said.
Police said that the at approximately 6:20am, a pick-up truck crashed into a four-door car near the exit for Kotsiatis. The two in the pick-up were seriously injured in the crash, while the six in the other were vehicle sustained less-serious injuries.
All eight were transferred to Nicosia General for treatment.
Police are continuing their investigations into the accident.
In a separate accident on Saturday, a 26-year-old man was left in critical condition at Nicosia General after slamming into a wall, police said.
According to authorities, at approximately 6:55am the Larnaca man was driving on the Psevdas- Ayia Anna road, when under unknown circumstances he lost control of his vehicle and hit a cement wall.
The 26-year-old was trapped in his vehicle, and fire fighters from Kofinou arrived and extracted him.
He was rushed to Nicosia General, where doctors determined that he was in critical condition.
Kofinou police are continuing to investigate the cause of the accident.
