Pedestrian in serious condition after being hit by car

Nicosia general hospital

An 80-year-old woman was in critical condition on Saturday after being hit by a car a day previously.

The woman was hit while walking in Nicosia but did not appear to need medical treatment. After a few hours she felt unwell, police said, and she was taken to Nicosia general hospital where doctors diagnosed head injuries.

She is currently intubated, authorities said, and her condition is serious.

The woman told authorities that she was hit by a car and that she had told the driver after the accident she felt fine.

Police are continuing their investigations.
