The High Commission of India in Cyprus will once again celebrate the art of yoga with a free yoga session at the Tassos Papadopoulos Eleftheria Athletic Centre in Nicosia.
The event, which invites yoga practitioners and enthusiasts to take part, will run on Sunday to celebrate the International Day of Yoga. The High Commission is organising this event for a fourth time in order to continue to create a better awareness about yoga and meditation, while also helping people to adopt a more holistic approach towards life.
The phenomenon of an International Day, taking place around the world – which was set for June 21 because it’s the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere – only started in 2014, and celebrates a physical, mental and spiritual Indian practice that goes back 5,000 years.
Yoga is an ancient Indian discipline which evolved thousands of years ago for the physical and spiritual well-being of humankind. The word ‘yoga’ derives from Sanskrit and means to join or to unite, symbolising the union of body and consciousness.
If you want to take part in this event, register by sending your name, address, mobile phone number and email address to [email protected] Participants will receive a free yoga mat, a T-shirt and a yoga book.
