Hackers have a bad reputation but some of them fight the good fight to make entrance to secured websites even more difficult. But to strengthen firewalls and keep mischievous hackers out of the way, these hero hackers must first challenge cyber security, something that we will be introduced to at The Mall of Cyprus on Sunday.
The event, organised by the Cyprus Computer Society, will run at Entrance 2 of the mall from 11am until 3pm offering everyone the chance to learn about the Cyprus Cyber Security Challenge, through which the Cyprus National Team will be selected.
Young hackers from 14 to 25-years-old are invited to register and test the security of systems and networks and try to unlock secure boxes to win various prizes. A team of mentors and cyber security experts will also be working beside the young hackers and will also select, train and prepare candidates who have what it takes to be part of the Cyprus National Team.
The European Cyber Security Challenge will take place in London in October. The challenge was developed in response to the growing popularity of cyber security challenges throughout the world. These challenges have proven to be a great source of talent for companies across the cyber security landscape and have led to contestants being recruited by a diverse collection of employers, including government organisations, banks and financial institutions, energy suppliers and communications providers. The competition also allows international companies to see which country has the most exciting talent and identify where to hire from.
